  • Physical Development: Springwells Village Townhomes

Detroit LISC’s investment in Bridging Communities, Inc. for Springwells Village Townhomes is a great example of one development project that is part of the larger comprehensive development plan to advance quality, diverse physical development in Southwest Detroit.

  • Business Organizing

Detroit LISC invests in the Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA) to implement multiple integrated business organizing, attraction, and retention activities to stimulate local economic activity and maximize efforts around the recent creation of Michigan’s first Business Improvement Zone.

  • Greater Detroit Centers for Working Families

Detroit LISC and United Way for Southeastern Michigan have partnered to advance the financial stability of families and individuals in our community. This partnership created and manages the Greater Detroit Centers for Working Families, a network of high performing non-profits that provide the services. The Annie E. Casey Foundation developed the model for this work.

  • Green Infrastructure and Development

Detroit LISC is supporting Urban Neighborhood Initiatives, formerly Neighborhood Centers Inc., to develop and implement a strategic plan that brings together a working group comprised of representatives from Southwest Detroit organizations currently involved in park and greenway planning initiatives of their own. The result will be a comprehensive agenda that identifies, conceptualizes and outlines proposed short-term projects for immediate action while also recommending long-term strategies.

  • Community Policing/Public Safety

Detroit LISC is supporting an innovative community policing initiative focusing on three to five areas in Southwest Detroit that have identified at least one priority safety issues. Project staff will work to build collaborative relationships in each area between residents, businesses (if present), community organizations, and law enforcement agencies.
