2009 Detroit Community Development Awards

The Annual Detroit Community Development Awards is the premiere event recognizing the leaders and unsung heroes of community development and neighborhood revitalization in Detroit. Community judges have selected the winners.  

Winners of the 9th Annual Awards will be presented at 12 Noon on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Roostertail, 100 Marquette Drive, on the Detroit waterfront.

2009 MASCO CDC of the Year Award

Nominees for the 2009 CDC of the Year Award should be Community Development Corporations (CDCs) that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a demonstrable and measurable difference in the community through the development of housing and/or commercial projects, facilitation of successful programs to enhance the quality of life for residents, providing a forum for the community to discuss neighborhood issues and work together to build a safe and healthy environment for families.

2009 Community Champion Awards

Detroit LISC is honoring the extraordinary lengths that ordinary citizens will go to protect, preserve, and enhance their neighborhoods. Working and volunteering hundreds of hours, these are the individuals and organizations making a difference in the Detroit community. These are Detroit’s Community Champions.

Community Champions are people and organizations that:

  • Bring local residents and organizations together to address tough challenges
  • Go the extra mile to work for the improvement of the community
  • Have a “can-do” attitude and are able to inspire hope in others
  • Are creative and determined leaders committed to bringing about change
