Metro Detroit Regional Investment Initiative (2005-2007)
Through a process begun in 2004 with seed money from The Ford Foundation and input from a wide cross-section of the Metro Detroit community and local and state governments, the cross-jurisdictional Metro Detroit Regional Investment Initiative (MDRII) was developed by Detroit LISC. Through a competitive process, Detroit LISC selected three sites for inclusion in MDRII. Detroit LISC provided access to funding and technical assistance to the sites over the three year period.
The three MDRII program sites included: Detroit-Grosse Pointe Collaborative, Van Dyke-8 Mile Gateway, and Fort/Visger Revitalization Initiative.
The goal of this initiative was to address the consequences of urban sprawl, cultural tension, and urban blight by implementing strategies aimed toward achieving physical revitalization and social equity.
