Greater Detroit Centers for Working Families (CWF)

Detroit LISC and United Way for Southeastern Michigan have partnered to advance the financial stability of families and individuals in our community. This partnership created and manages the Greater Detroit Centers for Working Families, a network of high performing non-profits that provide the services. The Annie E. Casey Foundation developed the model for this work.

The Greater Detroit CWF focuses on three aspects key to helping families become financially stable:

  • Connections to employment/training opportunities for as long as necessary

  • One-on-one financial coaching by full-time experts with experience in money management

  • Access to income supports such as tax credits, health insurance programs, and food stamps

The Greater Detroit CWF network currently includes the following five sites:

  • Focus: HOPE in Central Woodward

  • Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit in the North End

  • SER Metro–Detroit, Jobs for Progress, Inc. in Southwest

  • Southwest Solutions in Southwest

  • Lighthouse of Oakland County, Inc. in Pontiac
